Tainted Reality Photobucket - Fan Section

Once again taking a page out of my old Bad Transitions days, I have set up a fan section in the photobucket where I will upload photos of you guys! To get your photo put up, simply e-mail me your fave mugshot to eternal_pictures@yahoo.com and I'll have it up there in no time. I'm also gonna try and do more with it than I did on BT, such as posting the pics here on the blogger as well, or anything else we, or you guys come up with! Also, if later down the line, you have a pic you like better than the current one comes around, feel free to resubmit! Just don't send me a new one everyday.

-Roger

P.S. Ok, the name of the album is pretty gay. Any suggestions on what to change it to?

The Crismson Sin - Tainted Reality Goth Edition

Coming up, tenatively Friday, December 16th (It depends on my final's week schedual), we will be doing our all Goth edition of Tainted Reality, The Crimson Sin. This is my attempt to educate you fellows out there, as well as have a reason to play 3 hours of non-stop Goth. I've noticed that some of you out there have a false perception of true Goth music. I'm gonna show that, in more than a couple circumstances, it's not too different from J-Rock. I guarentee that a few of you out there will be asking me to reccomend more works from bands that I'm going to play that night! You'll mostly be hearing the core Goth bands, such as The Mission UK, Sisters of Mercy, Switchblade Symphony, Alien Sex Feind, Christian Death, The Cure, and Bauhaus, but I'll also branch out a bit and play a little darkwave/ EBM with Razed In Black, VNV Nation, Type-0-Negative, and Zeromance, some of the new boys in Goth such as Tiamat, The Cruxshadows, The 69 Eyes, Lacuna Coil, The Last Dance, and (of course) HIM, as well as J-Goth bands like BLOOD, Noir Fluerir, Despair (Not D'espairs Ray, though if I get a good argument that they belong in a Goth show, I'll play them too), and Malice Mizer. Yes! I concider MM Goth, and I'll defend my case at the show!

So, tune in the week of Decmeber 16th (It's deffinately some primetime slot that week) For The Crimson Sin. Hopefully, you'll walk away from the night with a new outlook on the genre, and a few new fave bands and songs!

Requests in Italics
Special Events in **

Joining us in the stuido last week were Sarah D. from UD, Mike Brown, MY Bad Transitions Replacement Craig Carestia, and Charles, making his triumphant return. We did our best to keep the show very light hearted and did alot of expirimenting with the webcam. At one point, we had 15 viewers, which I think is a WIXQ record! We expirimented with it a bit afterwards too, and figured out how to optimally run the webcam program, so hopefully, next time we air, we can run it with MUCH less lag. In the future, we'll try to even do Webcam specific events such as Sarah's para para that closed the show.

As for talk breaks, I don't think we ever covered anything important. Instead, we just kinda goofed off. At one point, Sarah made a comment that Miyavi is a "crack whore" that garnered a HUGE fan response, and I LOVED IT! BTW, for future refference, if we say something you really agree with, and you IM it to us, it'll probably be read on air! So, keep sending in the in show comments. However, if you disagree with something we say, you can be almost CERTAIN it will be read. Here at Tainted Reality, we are firm believers of balanced representation. So, if someone on the show isn't defending your case, do it yourself! By all means, please do! Have your voice heard damnit! And just because Sarah said Miyavi is a crack whore, doesn't mean we won't play him. We even got a request for some solo Daishi too, which is something I've been meaning to play for weeks, coz, well, most people don't know he has a solo CD out!

There is one thing I need to address that is kinda my fault. Some of you were thrown for a loop it seemed when we started off the show with Nine Inch Nails and Slipknot and later on played Johnny Cash (Walk The Line, out in theatres now, GO SEE IT) and Motorhead (though most of the comments on that were directed at my lesson to Mike about how to head bang). I don't say this as much as I should, but on Tainted Reality, we honor ALL requests. Well, I do my best to atleast. While we are primarily a J-Rock radio show, if you have that one song that feels like an ich in your brain, and the only thing you can do to scratch it is by hearing it, as long as we have it in the studio, we'll cure all your ills, whether it be J-Rock or not. I feel that I owe it to who ever is requesting because they are taking time out of their day to listen to our show. The fans get to hear what ever they want to hear as far as I'm concerned. This is a thing I've had ever since I started in radio. I personally love to get a variety of requests, and will do my best to fulfill them all.

Speaking of variety, (personal rant BEWARE) the 56,745,632 Dir en grey requests we get a show are begining to urk me. There are more bands out there than Kyo and his boyz! Personally, even though this may urk some of you when this happens, I love getting requests for bands I've never heard of before! Someone requested Lolita23q a few weeks ago, and I was dumbfounded. I later checked 'em out and found out they were pretty good! Another faithful listener, almost every week, checks up to see if I've gotten any Melt Banana. When he first asked, I had no clue who they were. But now, I'm doing my best to fulfill his need for Melt Banana, plus, I'm exposed to a crazy, fun, new band. As I have been open about before, many of you guys out there know more about this scene than I do. Feel free to educate me! I'm here to serve you! Gaining knowledge of new bands, especially those outside the VK scene (*cough* Coaltar Of The Deepers *cough*), help to add spice and flavor to the show. So, please, by all means, give me lists of bands that I SHOULD know and SHOULD be playing, no matter how unknown they may be. I was very happy to get a few of those last week, and I hope it continues in full force!

And just for the record, I love Dir en grey just as... well... not as much as some of you out there but I like 'em alot. By all means, if Dir en grey is what you really really crave, you will get your Dir en grey. I just want to encourage some variety in the requests. And don't worry Diru fans, I'm trying to do what ever I can to get a Diru interview for you, where I would take fan questions... if it ever happens (I don't even know where to start). Trust me gang, they're at the top of my list and I would KILL to have 'em on the show.

I also announced what will become a yearly tradition for the show to cap off the last season of each year (On WIXQ, our seasons go from January-May and August-December because we're college radio). From now on, on the last week of airing in December, we will do an all-goth show, The Crimson Sin, which was a tradition that originated on my days on Bad Transitions. More info to come on this later.

Lastly, don't forget about our exclusive interview with Coaltar of the Deepers, THIS NEXT SHOW on December 1st!! Also, Josephine Yun, who has now been reschedualed for December 8th, and the mailing list. If you wish to become a member of our mailing list, please send an e-mail to eternal_pictures@yahoo.com titled "Mailing List" to be informed of all of the Tainted Reality news, blogger updates, and you know what, I'm gonna think of some special shit for mailing list members only!

Thanks go out to everyone who listened this week, despite Ms. Yun's absence. You guys truely rox0r and I hope you all continue to tune in every week! There will be no show this week because of the holiday, so to make up for it, I'll tray and keep the blogger as active as possible.

-Roger

P.S. I owe someone out there a D song next week. Major sorries that I didn't play it, but getting in studio para para is too hard to pass up!

With Charles' absence, we (actually, just I for this show) decided to focus on mainly music this show. No talk breaks, just non-stop music. To capitalize on this, I decided to play a slew of new music released in the past few weeks, as well as a block of nothing but industrial music. Since you guys seemed to dig it so much, I took a half hour's worth of industrial requests. I was rather pleased with the selection as well! I hope those of you who were unfamiliar with that genre of music now have a better idea of what it is.

Now, ya see, this is what I like to see on the blogger: 8 comments! The comments really help me better the show. I want to know what you guys think so I can constantly improve from show to show. The more constructive, and harsh, the criticism is, the better I will do. Please keep this trend up!

This coming week, we will have Josephine Yun, the author of JRock, Ink. join us in the studio. She will be playing some of her fave music, as well as discussing her book and an upcoming project of her's. Even if you are not familiar with the book, or didn't enjoy it, please listen in as she give some incite on her expirience withing the J-Rock scene. I will also see if she will be willing to take IM fan questions! Be sure to tune into thise rare in-studio event!

Also, do not forget, Coaltar of the Deepers, December 1st! Also, sign up for our mailing list! Just send a e-mail to eternal_pictures@yahoo.com titled "Mailing List" to recieve infor on upcoming shows, blogger updates, special events, and other Tainted Reality and Eternal Pictures related news!

Tonight, we have a barage of new rock from MUCC, Vidoll, Ayabie, Acidman, and maybe one or two others if you're lucky. On top of that, I will also be doing a personally selected half hour block of Japanese, European, and American industrial music, to be capped off with one of my favorite songs of all time! After that, if you guys really dig it, I will do a half hour block of REQUESTED industrial music! You can request artists that normaly aren't considered industrial, but if they have a really industrial sounding song, I'll play it. Example: Sakurai Atsushi - YELLOW PIG.

Charles is still missing, but I talked to his fiance` who said he IS alive. Hopefully he can make it tonight.

Be sure to tune in tonight!

(Special Events/Talk Breaks in **)

nd bust my ankle so bad 2 nights before my flight that I couldn't walk. After informing the band, they urged me to stay home. So I did, and did the show instead. I wasn't expecting many listeners, As I sent out a notice that there was a show last week on short notice. It started off as I expected, but gradually, more and more people started tuning in. We even had several new fans last week! I really wasn't expecting such a great turn out. Thanx to everyone who listened! You guys really uplifted my spirits.

Charles didn't joing us in the studio coz... well... he's kinda missing. I've been calling him on his cell all week, and he just hasn't picked up. I haven't even seen him online either. So, to fill his void, we had Craig Carestia and Holly Collins join me in the studio, and a special guest appearance by (pornstar) Mike Gaskin. Since I was sad that I missed out on seeing my boyz again, I decided that I would take all requests for BLOOD that night, and there were ALOT! Don't expect this to happen often (except in interview shows) as I want to try and get as many bands equal airplay as I can, but I was really looking forward to hanging and working with them again, so I decided to play as much of their music by request that I could. It made me really happy to have a band requested more than Dir en grey for once!

Later on, Craig and I had a discussion on the recent release of the trailer for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, with most of the conversation revolving around speculation on whether or not the main character in the trailer was really Solid Snake. We think there's a pretty good chance that it is Big Boss. Some of the things we pointed out were the character's use of CQC, the age difference between him and Otakon, and the ominous eye patch. We're still not sure though coz, even while these points make a strong argument that this charcter is Big Boss, this character smoked cigarettes (Big Boss smoked cigars), seemed to know Otakon very well, and the fact that Big Boss has (supposedly) been dead since the original Metal Gear. Also, Hideo Koijima (series creator, director, and writer) has a habbit of having fun with us MGS fans but jerking our chain on what he does and doesn't reveal about the story, which usually makes us go "WTF is he up to now?". Also, a friend of mine from Japanese class, Fabio Simony, had a theory that this is indeed Solid Snake because clones age faster than normal humans. If you wanna contribute to this debate, please do in our comments section coz there's not much I love more than a good MGS discussion.

Also, sadly, I had to break some news to all of you out there. Anne Rice got nabbed by the Crusaders and joined the dark side... er, light side I should say. That's right guys, the most praised gothic novel author of our time, Anne Rice, is now a Born Again Christian. She has even been quoted as saying "From now on, I will only write for the Lord." My problem is not that she's born again, because as I said, I have my own religious beleifs as well that I don't wanna get into because I don't wanna weird you guys out, but my problem is that Born Agains always take their new faith to an extreme and MAKE it dominate their lives. Her first book from her new mind set will be Christ The Lord: Out of Egypt, a novel about Jesus at the age of 7 as told by Jesus. This alone, really, I don't have a problem with because she could probably do something interesting with this. My problem is that this new religious style of writing is all she wants to write for the rest of her life. Why make your God-given vivid and creative imagination so narrow? Personally, I preffer the Johnny Cash approach to making religious related art: Praise Jesus as your lord and savior, then write a song with a line as polar opposite as "I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die."

By the way, thanx to Holly, I was able to play Johnny Cash for the first time on the air to the normal TR audience. For those of you who don't know, I am a HUGE Johnny Cash fan, and I would KILL to hear a J-Band do a cover of Follsom Prison Blues! But which band...?

Special Thanx go out to everyone who listened last week. I was really bummed since I couldn't walk (still can't), Charles wasn't there, and I wasn't in Mexico, but you guys really helped lift my spirits! Thanx a bunch all!

Don't forget Josephine Yun in studio on November 17th and Coaltar of the Deepers on December 1st!!!

Also, if you wish to join the Tainted Reality mailing list (Which already has more addresses on it than I thought it would EVER have!!) please send an e-mail to eternal_pictures@yahoo.com titled "Mailing List".
